Maintenance

NAMI is a drug-free workplace. Qualified candidate will report directly to the facility engineer. Serves as the primary point of contact for building and vehicle work related matters located at NAMI Central Georgia. MUST be a team player. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and vehicles
  • Perform preventative maintenance
  • Perform basic repairs and maintenance
  • Oversee contractors, workers, and additional professionals on site to do repair or building work
  • Diagnose and fix mechanical and electrical issues
  • Maintains fire extinguishers and inspections
  • Maintain all equipment to include inventory and a checkout system for all employees
  • Assist and oversee community service workers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Basic HVAC, plumbing and carpentry skills
  • Performs basic electrical installation and repair work in wiring switches, outlets, plugs, cables, power circuits and appliances, repairs lighting systems, inspects electrical systems
  • Identifies and performs basic repairs of plumbing leak or breaks, opens clogged lines and drains, replaces washers and other minor parts, applies and prepares various surfaces for paint, enamel, lacquer, varnish, or stain, repairs wall coverings.
  • Repairs/replaces hot water heaters, as needed
  • Maintains grounds in clean and orderly manner including mowing, removing trash, trimming, aerating, and fertilizing lawn
  • Assists with maintenance at our off-site condo as instructed by Executive Assistant (partnership)
  • Pressure washes facility
  • Oversees vendors and contractors hired to work at NAMI to ensure work is correctly performed and completed in a timely manner
  • Performs basic carpentry work in construction and repair of structures such as partitions, walls, doors, cabinets, shelves, fences, window frames, office furniture, and roofs
  • Obtains quotes and arranges for services for outside vendors as needed, annotates and updates work orders and logs for specific information, maintains a clean and safe and orderly work area.
  • Replaces windows and door hardware; replaces or arranges for replacement of glass for windows, doors, and light fixtures.
  • Complete work orders in a timely manner
  • Responsible for preparing paperwork for jobs, quotes, materials and reimbursement
  • Maintain security equipment to include cameras and alarm system
  • Must perform all other duties assigned

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Frequent bending and stooping
  • Frequent crouching, climbing, or balancing
  • Ability to lift to waist level, pull, and pushup to 50 pounds
  • Use of hands for simple grasping, writing, drawing, operating office equipment
  • May be exposed to extreme weather conditions
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Age 25 or older with a high school diploma or GED
  • TB screening
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license with a clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Report)
  • Live within commuting distance of the NAMI facility, group home and duplex
  • Proficient computer/office equipment skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Possess strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Critical listening and thinking skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Report to work in a timely manner
